Singhalese Sports Club Open National ranking squash championship will be conducted from 7th to 14th of September at the SSC Squash complex.
The tournament is conducted by the Sri Lanka Squash Federation and most of the National players are expected to take part in the tournament. The Championship will serve as good warm up tournament for all the junior players as this will be the last National ranking tournament to be held before the Junior National Squash Championships.
The tournament will be worked off with 19 age group categories comprising of both Mens and Womens events. Current Mens National top seed and reigning champion Gihan Suwaris , Mens Open Runners up at the previous tournament Dilshan Gunawardena and bottom seed Ravindu Laksiri will be top contestants for Mens Open title this year.
Mihiliya Methsarani who won Bronze medals at the Youth Asian Games and Asian junior Squash championships will be the top seed and one of the top favorites to win the Womens Open event. Bottom seed Naduni Gunawardena who beat Mihiliya in the previous tournament will be the other top contestant for the title.
Upcoming young stars Shamil Wakeel,Viduranga Udantha,Druwinka Perera ,Wasundara Suwaris,Fathoum Issadeen,Kasuni Gunawardena,Sanduni Gunawardena and Sameera Deen will feature in the junior events adding glamour to the tournament.
Entries are to be handed over to the SLSF SECRETARIAT at Tamil Union. The closing time/date for entries is 2.00Pm, Wednesday the 04th September 2013. The draw will be held at 6.00 pm on 04th September 2013 at the SLSF Secretariat, Tamil Union and will be displayed at the Singhalese Sports Club and Tamil Union by 6.00 pm on Friday the 06th September 2013.
