Sri Lanka woman cricketer Sripali Weerakkody has decided to retire from international cricket with immediate effect, having officially informed her intention to Sri Lanka Cricket.
The 34-year-old has represented Sri Lanka in 89 ODI internationals and 58 T20 internationals, picking up 89 wickets.

“I have decided to call it a day. So, I feel this is the right time for me” Weerakkody said. The decision to retire was a personal decision, Sripali further added.
The veteran has represented Sri Lanka in three ICC Women’s World Cups and five World T20s from 2009 to 2018. Her last international match was against Bangladesh in West Indies in the World T20 in 2018.

Since then Weerakkody has been involved in Fitness training studies and in January 2020 the former fast bowling all-rounder became the first Sri Lankan women’s cricketer to qualify as Master and Fitness Trainer in Australia as she was certified by the Australian Institute of Fitness.
