Sri Sumangala College registered a commanding 139-run win over Moratu Maha Vidyalaya in the 32nd Limited Overs Encounter played today (6th April) at the de Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
After winning the toss, Moratu Maha Vidyalaya skipper Isuru Nidarshana opted to field first. Sri Sumangala made the most of the opportunity, posting a competitive 235 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs.

Captain Duranka Silva set the tone early, smashing 44 off just 27 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes inside the first powerplay. Anuhas De Silva and Sandeep Wijerathne then stitched together the highest partnership of the innings—75 runs for the third wicket. De Silva top-scored with a composed 64, while Wijerathne chipped in with 48, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Akila Wedamulla and Senira Lithmin provided the finishing touches with a quick 48-run stand for the sixth wicket. Lithmin made a brisk 29 off 20 before being run out on the final delivery, while Wedamulla remained unbeaten on 23.
Sandun Suwaris was the standout bowler with the ball for Moratu Maha Vidyalaya, picking up 2 for 40, while skipper Nidarshana bowled a tight spell, finishing with 1 for 28 from his 10 overs.
Chasing 236 for victory, Moratu Maha Vidyalaya stumbled from the outset and were soon reeling at 35 for 4 in 13.3 overs. Sanjana Senevirathne and Sandun Suwaris added 28 runs for the fifth wicket in a brief resistance.
However, once that partnership was broken, wickets tumbled quickly as Sri Sumangala maintained pressure with the ball. Moratu Maha Vidyalaya were eventually bundled out for just 96 runs in 37 overs. Senevirathne top-scored with 24, while Suwaris contributed 21.

Bihanga Silva was the chief destroyer with the ball, claiming an excellent 5 for 29. Mevindu Kumarasiri took 2 wickets, while Sadew Hettiarachchi and Rusith Jayawardana chipped in with a wicket apiece.
With this dominant victory, Sri Sumangala College recorded their 17th win in the Limited Overs Encounter over Moratu Maha Vidyalaya. Bihanga Silva was named Player of the Match for his match-winning spell.
