Sri Lankan Cricket Team Likely to Tour Pakistan in September: International Cricket had its resumption on the Pakistani soil after six years, two months and 19 days when Zimbabwe toured Pakistan for a two-match T20 series followed by a 3-match ODI series.

The tournament was a successful one judging by the perspectives of crowd attendances and security measures. However, there have been incidents of blasts and suicide bombing but it was assured that neither the players nor the series had some impact as a result of such blasts.

Sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told the media of the fact that the PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan held a meeting with the chief of Sri Lankan Cricket Interim-Committee, Sidath Wettimuny. Also, it was reported that measures were being taken to convince him to send the Sri Lankan national team to tour Pakistan.

And hopefully, the Sri Lankan team is likely to tour Pakistan in the month of September. This has been revealed by even a popular news media in Pakistan.

On Saturday, the Chief of Sri Lankan Cricket Interim Committee, Sidath Wettimuny and a member of the Sri Lankan Cricket Interim Committee met Shaharyar Khan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Reportedly, the PCB had earlier invited the two-member delegation from Sri Lanka to visit Pakistan and to watch the third and the final ODI between the hosts and Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, the game was washed out.

After the meeting, Wettimuny praised about the international cricketing prospects in Pakistan. His words were as such, “I am happy to see international cricket being played in Pakistan and I am hopeful it will help change perception about the security situation and the security plan of the PCB to the rest of the boards.”

On being asked about the prospects of Sri Lanka’s tour to Pakistan for Cricketing actions, Wettimuny said, “I am just amazed at the response of the Pakistani people to this series and their enthusiasm has convinced me that Sri Lanka has to give more support to Pakistan cricket.”

On the other hand, the Zimbabwean Cricket team departed from Lahore on Monday after the completion of an historic tour. Zimbabwe might have lost the series but have managed to win many hearts in Pakistan for stepping up and touring the nation for Cricket.

The Zimbabwean team became the first full-member nation to visit Pakistan since March, 2009 when the Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore stadium which eventually drew into darkening the Cricketing Prospects in Pakistan.
