The all round efforts of the Sri Lanka Women’s National Baseball Team helped them to secure a massive win (28 – 8) against Cambodia in the IV BFA Women’s Baseball Asian Cup Qualifiers Tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Without wasting much time, the Sri Lankan outfit took a commanding lead of 12 – 3 after the first innings. Furthermore, the Sri Lankan lasses tightened the grip by getting 5-0 advantage in the second innings. During the third innings, Sri Lanka took the 11 – 4 scoreline to extend their lead to 21 runs. A helpless Cambodian outfit managed to score just one point in their 4th inning. At this point, the game was stopped without going to the allotted seven innings as Sri Lanka had already got a significant lead.

With this dominant victory of 28 -8, Sri Lanka emerged to 5th place in the eight-nation baseball competition. During the campaign, the Sri Lankan ladies played 5 matches and their progress for the Semi Finals were shattered by the defeats against the formidable India and Pakistan. However, Sri Lanka displayed a commanding performance against Iran, Malaysia and Cambodia.
