Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu’s all-round brilliance helps Sri Lanka register a convincing win in the 3rd and final ODI against Pakistan in Karachi.
Sri Lanka Women’s skipper Chamari Athapatthu won the toss and chose to bat first with the visitors making two changes bringing in Sugandika Kumari and Anushka Sanjeewani to their playing XI.

Sri Lanka got off to a shaky start losing two quick wickets in the first 2 overs. However, the skipper Athapaththu and number 4 batter Madavi rescued the innings building a 152-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
Athapatthu stroked her 6th century in ODIs as she made 101 runs off 85 balls with 13 fours and a six. Madavi also played a crucial knock for the visitors bringing up his maiden ODI half-century with a knock of 75 runs off 128 balls with 3 fours. Thanks to Athapaththu-Madavi’s massive stand, Sri Lanka posted a competitive score of 260 runs in the allotted 50 overs.

In reply, Pakistan posted only 167 runs handing a comprehensive 93-run victory to the visitors. The skipper Athapaththu who impressed with the bat earlier in the day, showed her skills with the ball taking 2 wickets while Oshadi Ranasinghe picked up 2 wickets for Sri Lanka.
This is a welcome win for Sri Lanka women’s team as they recorded a victory in ODIs after 3 years. Though Sri Lanka ended the tour on a high with a win, Pakistan clinched the 3-match ODI series, 2-1.
Sri Lanka skipper Athapaththu won the player of the match award for her all-round heroics (101 & 2/20) while Pakistan’s Sidra Ameen won the player of the series award for amassing 218 runs in 3 matches at 72.66.
