Korea handed Sri Lanka their second consecutive loss in Field Hockey at the Asian Games, a short while ago.
Coming off an opening game hammering, the Sri Lankan Men’s Hockey team, was looking for a breakthrough win in their second match against Korea, who is currently ranked 4th in Asia. The Lankans had to accept an 8-0 loss at the end of the four quarters of play as Korea recorded their second win at the Games.

Hot off a 11-0 win against Hong Kong in their opening game, team Korea dominated the game from the get-go. Both Korea and Sri Lanka played a clean game of Hockey with neither team carded for fouls.
First Quarter (4-0)
Kim Seongkyu converted a penalty to score Korea’s opening goal, in the 4th minute of the game. Kim Junghoo slapped one in in the 6th to take Korea up by 2 goals to nil. Weonki Hwang came in with the third goal in the 8th minute and Jongsuk Bae closed out the first quarter with a goal of his own.
Second Quarter (4-0)
The second half finished goalless; proving a valiant effort by the experienced Tharindu Hendeniya at goal. Hendeniya was able to save 6 shots on goal during the second quarter alone, and 14 overall during the game.

In the 31st minute, Jongyhun Jang successfully converted a penalty stroke to score Korea’s 5th goal. Shortly after, Hendeniya was able to stop Jang from scoring his second penalty conversion, with a powerful leap on the far upright. Jang retaliated with two more goals against the Lankan goalie in the 41st and 43rd minutes, to take the game into the fourth and final quarter.
Fourth Quarter (8-0)
Substitute in the third quarter, Forward Taeil Hwang scored Korea’s 8th and final goal just six minutes into the quarter. Korea took home a convincing win at the end of 60 minutes, 8 goals to 0.

Sri Lanka will have their third group stage match on the 24th Friday against Hong Kong at 2:00pm SL time. Their final group stage match is scheduled on the 26th Sunday against hosts Indonesia at 9:00am SL time.
