The commencement of the India Tour of Sri Lanka is set to be delayed as a result of the Covid cases in the Sri Lankan camp.
The 3-match ODI series between the sides was set to commence on the 13th, however, with two members of the hosts’ coaching staff testing positive for Covid-19, the authorities have assessed the situation and decided to push the game to the 17th of July.
As it stands, the ODIs have been rescheduled for the 17th, 19th and 21st of July, while the T20Is are set to be played on the 24th, 25th and 27th.
The decision comes as a result of the Sri Lankan squad going into isolation until the 11th of July (Sunday), after batting coach Grant Flower and analyst G.T. Niroshan tested positive for the Delta variant of Covid-19.
The team is expected to face another round of PCR tests before entering the bio-bubble on the 11th.
With as many as 21 players from the squad returning from England still in isolation, SLC is reportedly ready to field a make-shift team with the players in two bio-bubbles currently training in Colombo and Dambulla.
The two bubbles include players who have signed contracts with Sri Lanka Cricket and have been training together over the past few days.
Reliable sources reported to ThePapare.com that several players from the Colombo bubble will travel to Dambulla to join the ‘A’ team training sessions in order to be prepared for the series against India if the need arises.
