The much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup clash between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was washed out today (11) at Bristol County Ground, without a ball being bowled.
Rain had the final say from morning to evening as the umpires decided to abandon the match at 1.57 pm local time.
As Sri Lanka shared another point with Bangladesh, with two washouts, one win and a defeat, Sri Lanka now sits in 5th position of the ICC World Cup 2019 points table, with 4 points.

So far, Bangladesh has had an up and down tournament after beating South Africa in the tournament opener, but two defeats have followed. With this game being abandoned, Tigers will only have 3 points in 4 completed matches.
History confirms that this is the 4th abandoned match without conducting the toss in the World Cup with two of them having come in this edition, both involving Sri Lanka. This is the 3rd washout of this World Cup in 16 matches.

This means Sri Lanka will not have played a match in this World Cup for 11 days when they meet Australia on the 15th.
The encounter against Australia is scheduled to be held at Kennington Oval, London and the forecast doesn’t suggest good weather.
Malinga to return to Sri Lanka after Bangladesh clash
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s veteran pacer Lasith Malinga will be heading back to Sri Lanka after today’s match to attend his Mother-in-law’s funeral in Sri Lanka but is expected to join the team again on the 14th June, before the team’s next game.
