Former Bangladeshi Test Skipper Shakib Al Hasan will miss the first Test against Sri Lanka, which will begin on the 15th of May at Chattogram, after testing positive for COVID-19.
This will be a huge blow for Bangladesh ahead of the 1st encounter, with Al Hasan being a key part of both batting and bowling lineups. Spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz has also been ruled out due to an injury.
With the absence of two of Bangladesh’s three main spinners, it would be interesting to see who they pick to join Taijul Islam on the 15th, especially with the surface expected to be slow and low.
Sri Lanka’s tour to Bangladesh kicked off today with a tour game against Bangladesh Cricket Board XI at Savar.
