Sri Lanka U19s managed to draw the 2nd and last Youth Test against Bangladesh U19s thanks to their skipper Nipun Dananjaya’s brilliant knock at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Visitors started the final day of the game at 187-5, leading only by 17 runs in the second innings after they dismissed Bangladesh U19s for 354.

Their below-par 1st innings total of 184 meant that a victory was out from the equation for young lions and they had to make a strong effort in the 2nd innings to save the Test.
Overnight batsman Sri Lanka skipper Nipun Dananjaya who was playing a composed knock, was on 29 off 116 balls and he had to guide the team to safety on day 04. Responding well to the challenge ahead of him, the skipper played a marathon innings from 318 balls adding 81 runs.
Dananjaya starred with the ball too in the first innings of Bangladesh as he dismissed 4 wickets to restrict the hosts for 354.
His special innings only included 4 boundaries as he patiently guided his team to an unlikely draw while Kavishka Lakshan and Dunith Wellalage supported the skipper scoring 45 each, taking the lead to 176 before Sri Lanka declared on 346/9.

At the stumps of day 04, Bangladesh U19s were 30 for 2 and the game was concluded as a drawn contest. Right arm seamer from Galle, Amshi de Silva was responsible for both wickets in the 4th innings.
The series ended as 0-0 after 2 unofficial Test matches and the One-day series which will feature 5 Youth ODIs, will commence on 9th November.
