Sri Lanka U18 Rugby in for Commonwealth Youth Games

Last year Sri Lanka U18 sevens team won the Asian title which was played in Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei, as a result Sri Lanka is qualified for the first time for the Commonwealth Youth Games which will be held in Bahamas from July 17th – 23rd this year.

A fortnight ago the U20 sevens team won the Asian sevens title..

However, most of the players who toured last year will miss this tournament due to the age category. Players born in 1999 – 2000 will be the eligible ones.

The trials will be held on 20th Thursday at the Racecourse grounds at 8.00am.

Sri Lanka is the only country that will represent Asia while Bahamas (Americas) , Fiji (Oceania) , Kenya (Africa) , England (Europe), Samoa (Oceania), Sri Lanka (Asia) will play in this tournament in the said age category.

The selections will be organized in collaboration with Sri Lanka Rugby, Sports Ministry, Education Department and Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association. Training sessions will be scheduled without interference to the Singer Schools Rugby League ( 2nd Round) and Milo Knockout Tournaments.
