Sri Lanka registered a convincing win over Bangladesh in the third and final T20I to clinch the three-match series, 2-1 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss for the third consecutive time in the series and asked the visitors to bat on Sylhet surface.

Dhananjaya de Silva, who opened the batting, replacing out of form Avishka Fernando and No. 3 batter Kamindu Mendis, departed early, pushing the visitors onto backfoot.

Kusal Mendis kept one end going and Skipper Wanindu Hasaranga, who promoted himself to No. 4, gave much needed impetus to the innings. The pair added 59 runs off 31 balls for the third wicket and laid the platform for the lower order to capitalize on.
However, the Bangladesh bowlers managed to pull things back in the last 5 overs as Sri Lanka finished at 174/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Mendis was the top scorer for the visitors as he brought up his highest score in T20Is, notching up 86 runs off 55 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes.
The off-spinner Dhananjaya de Silva struck early to remove Bangladesh opening batter Litton Das in the third over of the innings. Following that, it was Nuwan Thushara’s show as he knocked over Bangladesh top order with a hat-trick.
The slingy pacer who returned to national team replacing the injured Matheesha Pathirana, produced a dream spell, snaring 5 wickets for 20 runs in his 4-over spell.

Bangladesh fought back during the latter part of the innings, but the damage done by Thushara upfront was too big for them to catch up.
