Sri Lanka will tour England and Ireland during the early summer of 2016 as the South Asian cricketing giants’ full tour itinerary was released on Tuesday by the England Cricket Board.
The first part of the tour sees Headingley and Durham hosting Test matches against Sri Lanka before the three-match series concludes at Lord’s.
Trent Bridge, Edgbaston, Bristol, The Oval and Cardiff will then stage the 5 ODIs against Sri Lanka. The T20 game will be played at Ageas Bowl.
Before the ODI leg in England, Sri Lanka will visit Ireland for few ODI games with the idea of the Associate Nation to play 15-20 games an year with full member opposition.
England will be seeking to avenge their Tests and ODI defeats against Sri Lanka last year. The visitors had their best English tour with a memorable win at Leeds under the captaincy of Angelo Mathews.
The current T20 World Champions will play two tour games with Essex and Leicestershire after arriving in England on May 4th.
After Sri Lanka’s departure in July, Pakistan will be touring England for the first time since 2010 and will contest four Test matches, five One-Day Internationals and a T20 game in the second half of the summer.
“Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also attract strong support from their own communities in this country which all adds up to another exciting summer of international action played in front of packed houses for all three formats of the game.” ECB Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison said.
