Sri Lanka national selectors have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India.
The 27-year old southpaw Charith Asalanka has been appointed as the captain of the team replacing Wanindu Hasaranga who resigned from the position few days ago.
Angelo Mathews, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dilshan Madushanka who featured in Sri Lanka T20 World Cup squad have faced the axe.
Kusal Janith Perera, Avishka Fernando, Dinesh Chandimal and Binura Fernando have returned to the side replacing them.
Meanwhile, the 21-year old seaming all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe who caught the attention of cricketing fraternity with impressive performances during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, has also earned his maiden national callup.
The three-match series will be played on the 27th, 28th and 30th July at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
