Inside 4 minutes the score was 6-2 but a 5-0 run saw South Africa make it 15-4. The hosts ended the 1st quarter 24-9 with 3 consecutive goals.
At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, both teams exchanged goals and at the midway point of the quarter, the score was 34-15. However, South Africa scored 7 back-to-back goals making it 41-15. At halftime the score was 45-18 (21-9).

South Africa started the 3rd quarter with 5 unanswered goals, and they closed out the quarter 68-24 (23-6). Sri Lanka had a much better 4th quarter in terms of offense and defense. Sri Lanka scored 8 goals and kept South Africa to 19 goals.
Sri Lanka shot 32/38 at 84.2% while South Africa had 87/99 at 87.9%. Thishala Algama scored 24/28 at 85.7% and Semini Alwis shot 87.5% from 7/8 for Sri Lanka. For South Africa, Elmere van der Berg had 50/57 at 87.7% and Nichole Taljaard 24/27 at 88.9%
