The Sri Lanka Test squad for the upcoming 2-match series against England, which will be commencing on 14th January at Galle, has been announced.
However, the squad is yet to be ratified by the Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
The squad features the same set of 18 players, out of 22 who were selected for Test series against South Africa, and excluding the injured Dhananjaya de Silva, Kasun Rajitha and uncapped Dilshan Madushanka and Santhush Gunathilaka.
Sri Lanka Cricket has added new players to fill these spots in – Roshane Silva, Nuwan Pradeep, Ramesh Mendis and Lakshan Sandakan.
- In – Roshen Silva, Ramesh Mendis, Nuwan Pradeep, Lakshan Sandakan
- Out – Dhananjaya de Silva, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka, Santhush Gunathilaka
Roshane Silva has earned a recall to the Test team after 2 years, as he was sidelined due an injury since 2019. Nuwan Pradeep will be a special addition to the Test squad as he was considered a white-ball specialist by SLC previously due to his work load management, and he last played a Test in 2018 against England in their last visit to Sri Lanka.

Uncapped Ramesh Mendis will feature in any kind of senior National squad for the first time in his career. He was a top performer in the last Lanka Premier League and was in the Sri Lanka Emerging and A squads.
However, the top performers of the last first class season, highest runs scorer Lahiru Udara and highest wicket taker Duvindu Thillakaratne, were not considered for the Test squad.
