Adding a lot of escalation to the flailing Sri Lankan Cricket fans heart, the young guns – the Sri Lankan u 17s has been over-powering England in each department of the game winning the 3 day match and now the 1st ODI by 4 wickets.
England taking first least of the wicket were 189 all out in 48 overs once again unable to face up to the spin of Ravin Sayer who unleashed a spell on them to scalp 4 for 37. T Nimesh helped his cause with 2 for 32.
For the home side only R Jones 41, H Hameed 71 and M Hussain 17 impressed. Hameed in particular batted solidly for his 71 against the spin attack.
Sri Lanka in reply cantered home in 46.2 overs with 4 wickets in hand ending up on 196. The batting took control
with solid performances right down the order. Sithara Gimhan 26, Avishka Fernanda 25, Kaveen Bandara 43, Madawa Nimesh 39 and Sahan Arachchige 25.
R Jones 2/36 was the only bowler impressing for England.
