The Sri Lankan Men’s Hockey team qualified for the 2023 Asian Games through the recently concluded qualifiers in Bankok.
The top six teams of the qualifier tournament have made it through to play the main draw at the games in China next year.
Sri Lanka defeated Singapore 5-2 but lost to Bangladesh and Indonesia 3-1. In the classification matches that was played to select the 5th-8th positions Sri Lanka managed to defeat Hong Kong 5-2 and drew against Uzbekistan 3-3.
Bangladesh won 6-2 against Oman in the final to book their place alongside Oman, Thailand, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Vipul Warnakula emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with 7 goals.
