20-member preliminary Sri Lanka squad named for Windies ODIs and T20Is

A 20-member Sri Lankan squad has been named for the upcoming limited-overs series against the touring West Indies team, with the inclusion of the likes of Thisara Perera and Nuwan Pradeep, ThePapare.com learns.

The limited-overs series is comprised of 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is between the Caribbean nations and Sri Lanka. The 20-member preliminary squad, started their practices yesterday (12) at the R Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama.

The two usual captains in the formats, Dimuth Karunaratne (in ODIs) and Lasith Malinga (in T20Is) will lead the squad while experienced campaigners Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera have also retained their spots.

Interestingly, Thisara Perera who was axed from the national team in 2019, has been recalled to the 20-member squad after being left out of the squad for 12 T20Is.

Nuwan Pradeep who was injured while training ahead of the tour of India and Isuru Udana who injured himself while fielding in the 3rd T20I vs India has recovered and earned call-ups to the squad straight away.

Apart from these inclusions, there are no major changes to the squad which toured India earlier this year.

Sri Lanka will play defending World T20 champions, West Indies at home from 22nd February to 6th March.
