Sri Lanka defeated Brunei by 55 goals to 20 at the 10th Asian Netball Championships, earlier today.
The Lankans, who were coming off a disappointing loss against Malaysia yesterday, started things off in fine form, scoring 12 goals in the 1st quarter alone. That turned out to be their lowest scoring quarter as they notched up 13, 16 and 14 in the following three quarters to register a comfortable win, as was expected.
Brunei, coached by Lankan Thilaka Jinadasa, were never allowed to make their way back into the game at any stage.
Having been given a walkover in their 1st game due to the withdrawal of Afghanistan from the competition, Sri Lanka have notched up 2 wins and 1 loss during the group stage of the tournament.
After losing to Malaysia last evening, Sri Lanka have finished 2nd in Group B and will take on the team that finished on top of Group A in the 1st semi-final on the 6th. With Singapore having beaten Hong Kong, it is likely that Sri Lanka will face the defending champions in the semis, in what promises to be a tough encounter for Lankans.
The team now has almost 50 hours of rest ahead of them before they play the all-important semi-final on Saturday.
From Group A, it looks likely that Hong Kong and Singapore will make it to the semis.
