To celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023 meaningfully, the Sri Lanka National Netball Pool conducted a one-day program for the elders at the Maria Home in Malabe.
12 elderly mothers and 02 helpers were residing in the home and the objective of the program was to provide nutritious meals, improve their quality of life, add joy and happiness, and give them a day to remember.

The team was also able to provide the elders with a pack of daily necessities.
Some of the expected outcomes from this project was to raise awareness about looking after the elderly with utmost care and empathy, providing companionship and emotional support to overcome social isolation, ensuring adequate nourishment, clothes and other necessities are sufficient for elderly mothers at Maria Home.
All the expenses for this project were covered by the National Pool members.
