Sri Lanka moved up 6 places after their triumphant win at the Asian 5 Nations Division one tournament played in Colombo last week.
Sri Lanka beat Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, and Thailand to gain promotion to next year’s top division and a chance at qualifying for the rugby world cup in 2015.
Sri Lanka are placed at 38 moving from 44th place and are also the 4th ranked Asian team behind Japan (15), Korea (27) and Hong Kong (29). followed by Kazakhstan (43) and The Philippines (50).
Sri Lanka have no international 15s commitments till next year’s Asian 5 Nations.
