The Borneo 7’s continued to its second day with a new look Sri Lanka Men’s team tested to their potential. The opening fixture saw the Tuskers defeating the Sabah Eagles with ease as the scores read 12-0.

The first day saw both the men and women enjoying high-scoring openers as the two teams registered wins with the Sabah Sukma (Women’s) and the Islanders Rugby Club respectively.

Winning all of their group matches saw them playing the Mellow Puff team in the semifinals and after 14 minutes of action, the game was tied at 19-19 as it progressed to the sudden death period. A penalty try during the period saw Sri Lanka progressing to the cup semi-final.

It will be a tough contest for the Tuskers, as they will face the defending champions of the Borneo Sevens; the Borneo Eagles which is a representation from New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the Lady Tuskers’ saw an early 12-22 defeat to Hong Kong in the group stage games but gained entry to the quarterfinals to face the Sabah Eagles.

The women’s outfit ran riot around the Eagles and with a 46-0 score which put them through to another cup semifinal. It will be a repeat of last year’s final as the team is set to meet Thailand in the semifinal that will be played early tomorrow.
