Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 2nd Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps secured the Champion Trophy

The Inter-Regiment Volleyball Championship-2014 organized by the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force came to a close at the Indoor Stadium at Regimental Head Quarters, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Ambepussa on Friday.

The Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General Lalith Daulagala graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony which was attended by  Major General W. D. L. P. Wickramasinghe Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, the Principal Staff Officer Brigadier W. A. N. M. Weerasinghe, Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Brigadier B A L Rathnayake, Brigadier Administration Brigadier W W M G R Perera, Brigadier Logistics Colonel K T S Gunawardena, Officers and Other Ranks of the Volunteer Force.

The SLAVF volleyball players of Regiments/Corps including Women Corps entered the battle of the championship which commenced Monday (24).

Sri Lanka Light Infantry secured the men’s Trophy with an overwhelming victory of 3-0 against Sri Lanka Army Service Corps after an exciting battle which brought the volleyball fans a great delight.

Brigadier W. A. N. M. Weerasinghe the Principal Staff Officer gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners of the ‘A’ Division. The players of the Gemunu Regiment, Sri Lanka Engineers and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment teams respectively received the trophies of the Champion’s, Runner-up and the Second runner-up.

The presentation of trophies and certificates to the 2nd Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps team who emerged the runners-up at the women’s competitions was done by M/s Helen Perera.

Deepika Wickremasinghe gave away the Women’s Trophies and certificates to the champions of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps team and Runner-up 3 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps team.

The Chief Guest of the Inter-Regiment Volleyball Championship-2014 Major General Lalith Daulagala Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force was invited to give away the trophies as well. The presentation of trophies to the following players who displayed the highest performances at the Championship was accomplished by the Chief Guest:
