Former BNP Paribas World Team Cup champion, Japan, is on top for the men’s qualification event in Colombo. China, P.R. won the Asian Qualification in 2016 along with the men’s World Group 2 in 2016.

The Sri Lankan team contesting this year will be the top four guns in the circuit, R Ranaweera, G. Dissanayake, S. Dharmasena and L Senaratne. All four men are hot off three weeks at the ITF Futures series recently concluded in Colombo. The team met China on the first day of play, losing both the singles and the doubles. Sri Lanka rebutted with a strong win over the Malaysian entourage 2-1, only losing the first singles.
