The Sri Lanka Men finished the Asia Rugby Emirates Men Sevens Trophy 2024 in third place, however, they fell short of a place in the top division, having lost the Semi-final to the Philippines.

Sri Lanka began day 2 with a fighting victory over India in the Cup Quarter Final.

The game was a tight encounter as both teams failed to break each other down in the first half.

Sri Lanka however, managed to bounce back in the second half thanks to a braze from Akash Madusanka, and a try a piece from Srinath Sooriyabandara and Sachith Silva.

This solid second half meant Sri Lanka managed to get over the line against India in trying fashion, setting up a semi-final against the Philippines.

Ext up for Sri Lanka was the Semi-final against the Philippines.

A tough game was promised and that was what was delivered by the Philippines as they matched up Sri Lanka man to man.

The Philippines got off the mark quickest and scored the only points in the first half, as they went into the break with a 7-point advantage.

Sri Lanka got into a lead through Tharinda Ratwatte which was converted by Hirantha Perera in the second half.

Janindu Dilshan added a second as the Lankans extended their lead to 5 points, giving Sri Lanka a slight cushion.

Sri Lanka was punished for their inability to extend their lead as the Philippines scored 2 further tries, one after the hooter to send them through to the Cup Final, damming Sri Lanka to a 3rd Place Play-off.

Sri Lanka 12-19 Philippines

Sri Lanka bounced back with a massive in the third-place game, defeating Uzbekistan 32 points leaving the Uzbeks scoreless.

Sri Lanka bounced back from a disappointing Semifinal defeat to smash Uzbekistan.

Sri Lanka got off to a flier this time around, scoring 19 points in the first 7-minutes.

One the game was secured after half time, Sri Lanka stepped on the gas, leaving the helpless Uzbeks in the dust. 

Sri Lanka ended the game 32 points to the good, leaving their opponents scoreless, helping the Lankan Tuskers to a third place finish at the Asia Rugby Emirates Men Sevens Trophy 2024.
