Sri Lanka defeated Maldives 3-0 in their 3rd and final group stage game at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup 2023 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Sri Lanka had a comfortable 1st set taking an early lead to win 25-18 and the 2nd set was much easier with a 25-13 win. However, Maldives did give Sri Lanka a stern challenge in the 3rd, but they held firm to win 26-24.

With the win Sri Lanka will play for the 5th-8th places after suffering defeats in their opening two games to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Against Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka lost 3-0. The 1st two sets were close 27-25 & 25-20 but the 3rd was a comfortable win for Uzbekistan 25-14.
In the game against Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka played better but lost 3-1. Sri Lanka lost the 1st two sets 25-16 & 28-26 before winning the 3rd set 25-18. In the must win 4th set they pushed the Kazakhs to the limit but ended up losing 29-27 after a tense battle.
