Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has launched an investigation to determine the authenticity of a video circulating on social media which shows Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella roaming on the streets of Durham on Sunday (27) night.

Following a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of the hosts in the T20Is, the national team is currently in Durham for the first ODI which will be played on 29th June (Tuesday) at the Emirates Riverside Grounds in Durham.
“We have requested a report from the Manager to see if there was a breach in the bio-bubble. If there is a breach in the team code of conduct, we will take stern disciplinary action on the players.” Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan De Silva told ThePapare.com.

As per reliable sources, the players were allowed to roam within a certain limit in the city in Cardiff but due to the high risk of Covid-19 in Durham, the players have been advised not to leave the hotel room. It is important to note that some of the bio-bubble environment rules are different in England than in Sri Lanka due to the relaxation of rules.
On Sunday, England Cricket Board announced that the match referee who was officiating in the three-match T20I series between England and Sri Lanka, Phil Whitticase has tested positive for COVID-19. However, the players were not impacted by this situation.
