Sri Lanka Cricket to help victims of Easter Sunday attacks

Sri Lanka Cricket is set to donate Rs. 2 million to the Relief Fund setup by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Arch Bishop of Colombo in aid of those affected by the Easter Sunday attacks.

The fund which was established following the series of suicide bomb attacks targeting several Churches and Hotels across Sri Lanka, will help the cause of rehabilitating the victims and reconstructing the damaged churches.

The attacks also cut short the practice schedules of the Sri Lanka Cricket team, which is to take part in the ICC Cricket World Cup starting at the end of this month. Making use of their charity arm ‘Cricket Aid’, Sri Lanka Cricket has stepped forward to help the victims.

Since it’s re-launch in late 2016, Cricket Aid has been involved in several relief activities across Sri Lanka, helping the needy. Their most recent donation of Rs. 1 million was donated to the Apeksha Cancer Hospital in Maharagama.
