Sri Lanka contingent for 2014 Asian Games

The 17th Asian Games which is Asia`s largest sporting event governed by the Olympic Council of Asia will take place at Incheon,South Korea. The event will take place between the 19th of September to 4th of October 2014.

Incheon is the third city in South Korea after Seoul(1986) and Busan(2002) to host the Asian games. There are approximately 13000 athletes and 7000 officials from 45 national Olympic committees which will be participating in 439 events in 36 different disciplines. Sri Lanka will be also among the participating countries for this event. 

Sri Lanka will be represented in the Men`s and Women`s Cricket Team, Rugby, Hockey, Athletics, Boxing, Sailing, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Beach Volleyball respectively. 

National and star players such as former  T20 captain Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimane, Jeewan Mendis and Upul Tharanga will go along with the cricket team. Rugby will be represented by the full national squad Fazil Marija, Yoshitha Rajapaksha, Srinath Sooriyabandara and Dhanushka Ranjan will be along with the rest of the rugby team. 

Former commonwealth silver medalist Chintaka Vidanage will be looking forward to add to his medal tally in the weightlifting category. Finally Manjula Kumara and Nadeeka Lakmali will be the experience duo and will be carrying the weight of the nation along with the rest of the athletic team.
