The second day of the MSBA knockout tournament saw Seylan Bank PLC and Moresand LTD retaining their chances while IFS R&D, LB Finance ended their run in the 2018 edition.
Moresand LTD took on IFS R&D in the first match of the day. Moresand LTD leading from the front went on to lead the game at lemons, 15-26. Shajid Mohammed top scored for Moresand LTD with 14 points while he was well supported by Sehan Anton Senn who added 10 points. Apart from the duo, Rahul Samarakoon and Keshan Gayanga both scored five points each.
For IFS R&D, Danister Ratnasothy managed to score 13 points while Prabath Bhathiya Wasala added 08 points. Moresand LTD dominating the game from every corner led to their maiden win of the tournament as the final scores read 46-28.
The second match for the day was set to be played between Seylan Bank and LB Finance. Both the teams were on equal footing with unforced errors being the difference on the score at half-time. Seylan Bank led the game by 07 points at lemons as the scores read, 28-21.
For Seylan Bank, Naveen Bandara went on a scoring rampage top-scoring with 20 points while he was backed up by Dion Muthukumarana who topped up 16 points. Gayan Samaraweera who played his part as a support role dished out with 07 points.
Mohammed Nizzer Suhaim topped the scorer’s list for LB Finance with 14 points while Stephan Fernando and Gihan Sarinda scored 10 points each. Going into the second half, Seylan Bank dominated scoring 35 points and LB Finance only managed to reply with 21 points. Dominant bankers closed the game with a score-line of 63-44.
