The Sugathadasa Stadium was host to a couple of intense ‘A’ division basketball matches as the Colombo Super League nears the final rounds. Army SC took on Wattala SC while the Police SC team took on the HSC Blues. At the end of the day both the forces’ teams finished as second best to Wattala and HSC Blues.
Army SC vs Wattala SC
Wattala SC managed to secure a victory against Army SC, outscoring them by 13 points with a final score line of 69-56. Pandu Gamage was the highest scorer for the Army team, securing 14 points while Devon Joseph scored 25 points for the Wattala team, leading their offensive plays.
The Wattala team started off strong, scoring 20 points in the first quarter, moving the ball well to make successful offensive plays. Although the Army team tightened their defense and the tables were turned during the next two quarters, the final 10 minutes of the game turned out to be decisive as the Army team lost the plot in their offense and were outscored by Wattala, 23 points to 8, allowing Wattala to secure their victory.

Police SC vs HSC Blues
HSC Blues breezed through to a victory as they dominated the court with a final score line of 53-31 against Police SC. E. Venujan was the highest scorer for the Police team, securing 8 points while Terrence Neydertt was the key offensive player for the HSC Blues, scoring 13 points.
Both teams were off to a slow start, taking time to settle down into the game as neither team managed to secure a double-digit score in the first 10 minutes. The Police team trailed close behind the HSC Blues going into half-time with a deficit of 7 points. However, they failed to turn the tables on the Blues, which resulted in the deficit gradually growing in the second half of the game. The Blues attacked the rim at every opportunity and got multiple opportunities at the line to increase their lead which allowed them to breeze through to a victory.
