Colombo Super League continues in the ‘D’ Division as Old Thomians beat Old Wesley BC and K.R.C claimed their victory against Old J’Pura BC at the Hendry Pediris Basketball Courts.

Old Thomians Vs Old Wesley BC

Thomians managed to draw first blood by securing the first possession. Getting off to a solid start, the Thomians went on to score 15 points during the maiden quarter. However, Old Wesley BC was only able to reply this with 12 points. In the second quarter Micheal Alphonsus top scored for the Mount-Lavinia lads with 06 points while Rajja Wijeshinghe added another six for the opposition. Yet, the three points difference in the first quarter stood still at lemons.

After the break, Old Wesley BC moved into a full court man to man defence while the Thomians continued to have a half court defensive strategy. Thomians possessing the height advantage managed to penetrate the Wesley defence easily adding a dozen points. As the pressure was increased on the opponents, Wesley struggled in getting their jump shots and only replied with 7 points as the quarter came to an end.

Even though Old Wesley BC did score 17 points in the final quarter, Shanil De Silva together with the team piled up another 15 points for the school by the sea.

K.R.C SC Vs Old J’Pura BC

KRC stepped in having the height advantage which helped open the scoreboard first. Old UOJ BC seemed to be unsettled as KRC dominated the game in both offensive and defensive aspects. As the maiden quarter came to an end, scored read in favor of KRC, 12-08. Sandesh Sharma together with Sachin Wijesooriya played valuable minutes for KRC adding another 11 points on board. Lakmal Thissera who was the highest scorer for J’Pura was only able to add 6 points as the first half came to an end.

Coming into the second half, J’Pura players lacked the assists necessary to secure baskets. KRC players in reply pierced through the J’Pura defence without too much difficulty while adding 28 points. Old J’Pura BC was not able to recover from the bad start they took in the game and majority of the shots they took were not successful for them. However, with an early lead KRC was assured of their victory in the final couple of minutes as they dominated the scoreboard by 51-32 points.
