The eighteenth day of the 26th Mercantile Services Basketball League ended with four matches being played in and around of Colombo. Here`s a look at what happened.
Standard Charted Bank V Nations Trust Bank ‘B’
The D division match was played as the first match for the day at the Hendry Pedris Stadium. Standard Charted Bank trailed by eighteen points going into half time as the scoreboard read 21-39 in favour of NTB.
It was Pramoth Wickramasinghe who did most of the scoring for NTB as he added thirty-one points and top scored in the game. Lahiru Chiththrachige scored eleven points for Standard Charted Bank while Asela Rathnayake added ten points.
Going into the second half of the game NTB continued their dominance as they scored twenty-six points in reply to twenty points from Standard Charted Bank. NTB registered victory as the final scoreboard read 41-65.
Nations Trust Bank ‘A’ v Sampath Bank
The A division game was played as the second game for the day Hendry Pedris Stadium. The game was tight right from the traditional jump ball start as NTB had a slight lead of three points going into half time. The scoreboard read 36-39.
Sameera Senarath top scored in the game with thirty points for Sampath Bank while he was helped on by Avishak Siriwardhana with another thirteen points. Devon Rebert added twenty-two points for NTB and Naveen Halaldeen scored ten points.
Both teams picked up from where they left off from in the 2nd half. Sampath Bank added thirty-six points while NTB leveled the scoreboard 72 all by adding thirty-three points.
The winner was to be decided in a five minutes period of extra time. NTB losing the plot only managed to add only four points while Sampath Bank went on to add nine points as the final scoreboard read 72-81.
Millennium IT v Sarva Intergrated
The E division game was played as the third game for the day at Otters Aquatic Club. Millennium IT led the game by thirteen points going into half time as the scoreboard read 29-16.
Sajith top scored in the game with eighteen points for Sarva Intergrated. Fazal added eleven points for Millennium IT while Harshana chipped in with nine points.
Sarva Intergrated only scored nine points for the entire second half. Millennium IT scored twenty-five points which helped them register the win as the final scorecard read 54-25.
Amana Bank v WNS Global
The E division game was played as the final match for the day at the Otters Aquatic Club. WNS Global trailed the game by twenty-two points as the half-time scorecard read 53-40.
Nipuna Samarakoon did most of the scoring for WNS Global as he top scored in the game with thirty-one points. Mohamed Najath scored twenty-points for Amana Bank while Chamath Serasinghe scored fourteen points.
Going into the second half of the game, Amana Bank added twenty-three points in reply to twenty-two points by WNS Global. The final scoreboard read 53-40 in favour of Amana Bank.
