Sadeera Samarawickrama struck a magnificent century to guide Sri Lanka ‘A’ to victory over Afghanistan ‘A’ in the second match of the One Day Tri-Series played today (15th April) at Abu Dhabi.
Afghanistan ‘A’ opted to bat first after winning the toss and managed to post 248/8 in the allotted 50 overs.

The Afghan skipper Darwish Rasooli struck a superb century – 155 runs off 147 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes helping his team post a respectable score on the board.
The left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka was the standout performer with the ball for islanders as he bagged 4 wickets for 37 runs.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ faced early setback when they lost 2 quick wickets inside first 2 overs in the run-chase. However, the skipper Sadeera Samarawickrama and the opening batter Lahiru Udara rescued the innings, adding 163-run partnership for the third wicket.

Samarawickrama and middle-order batter Sahan Arachchige built another crucial stand worth 72 runs to seal the victory for Sri Lanka ‘A’.
Samarawickrama was the chief architect of the run-chase as he made unbeaten 129 runs off 110 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes. Udara also stood out with a fantastic 81 runs off 83 balls with 12 fours.
