Sri Lanka ‘A’ completed a 2-0 clean sweep over South Africa ‘A’ as they registered a comfortable win in the second unofficial Test of the two-match series ended today (18th September) at Benoni.

South Africa ‘A’ posted 238 runs for 9 wickets before declaring their second innings. Dewald Brevis and Jean du Plessis top scored for the hosts with knocks of 74 and 48 respectively.

Isitha Wijesundara, Mohamed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga picked up 2 wickets each for the visitors.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ were set a target of 253 which they chased down quite comfortably losing only 5 wickets. The middle-order batter Pavan Rathnayake smashed a game-changing knock anchoring Sri Lanka’s run-chase.

Rathnayake scored unbeaten 116 runs off 67 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 173.13. Sri Lanka ‘A’ skipper Pasindu Sooriyabandara also contributed with a knock of 52 runs.
