Sri Lanka ‘A’ registered a comfortable win over South Africa ‘A’ in the first unofficial ODI of the three-match series played today (31st August) at Potchefstroom.
After been put into bat first, the visitors posted a commanding total – 298/9 on the board courtesy of half-centuries from Nuwanidu Fernando, Kamil Mishara and Chamindu Wickramasinghe.

Fernando was the top scorer as he made 97 runs off 101 balls with 8 fours and a six. Mishara notched up 71 runs off 75 balls with 9 fours and a six while Wickramasinghe hit 55 runs off 39 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
The seamers Andile Phehlukwayo and Tristan Luus picked up 3 wickets each for the hosts.
In reply, the hosts managed to post only 205 runs as spin twins Dushan Hemantha and Wanuja Sahan ripped through the opposition’s batting lineup sharing 3 wickets each.

The second unofficial ODI between the two sides will be played on the 2nd September at the same venue.
