Sports Minister Harin Fernando has issued a gazette notification suspending the registration of five national sports governing bodies.
The suspended sports governing bodies are Sri Lanka Archery Association, Sri Lanka Kabaddi Federation, Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation, Sri Lanka Bridge Federation and Sri Lanka Roller Skating Association.
The gazette has been issued by the minister dated December 22, 2023. Meanwhile, Professor. (Rear Admiral) Shemal Fernando – Director General of the Sports Development Department has been named as the ‘competent authority’ as a temporary measure to handle administrative and other functions of these suspended sports governing bodies, and to call and conduct relevant elections.
