Sri Lanka faced the challenge from the hosts Indonesia at the Women’s AHF Cup 2025. After being trailing 2 – 0 at one stage courageous Lankan ladies managed to square the game by scoring a couple of goals.
Until the 20th minute, both teams failed to score and suddenly the hosts came to the driving seat by scoring a thundering couple of goals within just a couple of minutes.

Thereafter Sri Lanka managed to score their first as Shehani Madaragoda managed to deflect a superb pass from Ishara Ratnayake. Indonesia were able to secure their lead throughout the third quarter.
On the brink of the full time whistle Sri Lankan lasses earned few penalty corners and the most consistent player for Sri Lanka Nipuni Fernando found the back of the net once more to equalize the game.
Due to the game saving heroic performance, Nipuni Fernando was adjudged as the player of the match.
