Royal College secured a 10 wicket win over Thurstan College a short while ago. Led by their spinners, the team from Reid Avenue rapped up proceedings just before tea on day two.
This was their 2nd successive win in two weeks having had the better of Dharmaraja College just last week. Thurstan College resuming their innings on 98/9 managed to add just 4 runs ending their first innings on 102 all out. Skipper Devind Padmanathan claimed the final wicket as he ended with figures of 3/22.
Thurstan were then asked to follow on and this time around they managed to muster up 135 runs after being 123 runs behind. Minhad Jaleel who has been the lone warrior on most occasions for the Thurstanites this season came out with a fine 43 runs getting good support from Kavindu Kulasekera who chipped in with 26 runs. For Royal College it was the spinners who came to the forefront grabbing all wickets on offer. Left arm leg spinner Lasith Amuldeniya was the main wrecker capturing 4 wickets while skipper Devind Padmanathan and right arm off spinner Poorna Aluthge captured 3 wickets each to dismiss their opponents.
Royal College batting in their 2nd innings with a target of just 12 runs, and more than a session left in the days play managed to get their comfortably scoring 13 runs in 4 over’s.
