St. Peter’s College Colombo 04 has made all arrangements to conduct an International U20 Rugby Sevens tournament to commemorate its 100th anniversary in style. This glamourous tournament will kick off at 9.00 a.m. on the 14th and 15th of October 2023 at St. Peter’s College Rugby Grounds, Bambalapitiya.
St.Peter’s College is a legendary rugby school where they have been able to conquer 18 rugby championships over the past 20 years.
They will be stepping into the field where they took their first step in 1932 at the very same old St Peters College rugby grounds along with 7 other local rugby-playing schools and 4 foreign rugby-playing schools.
D.S Senanayake College, Royal College, Zahira College, Wesley College, Thurstan College, Sri Sumangala College, and Vidyartha College are the local schools that will be taking part in the competition along with the reigning double champions, St. Peter’s College.

University of Technology Sydney, Australia, Gordon Rugby Football Club New South Wales, Australia, Bahrain RFC, Negeri Sembilan Rugby, Malaysia are the foreign rugby playing institutions that will be partaking.
The 12 teams will clash against each other in two groups where the first 3 group matches will be happening on the first day and the remaining group matches will be held on the second day following the cup, plate, and bowl championships.
The cup final will kick off at 5.00 pm on 15th October.
Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees will be joined by 4 overseas referees who will be officiating the two-day event.
The tournament is supervised by the Ministry of Education and the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association.
Prioritizing the safety and the welfare of the players the committee has provided plenty of measures during the tournament. World Rugby qualified Doctors & medical teams, two ambulances with medical equipment, plenty of drinking water & ice, and an Ice Bath are essentials provided in the tournament.
Also, accommodations throughout the competition will be made available to all foreign teams and outstation teams.

Lunch will be served to all participating teams on Saturday and Sunday at the venue. These are some of the many perks that the players will get.
The draw for the tournament will take place on the 4th of October.

The lavish closing ceremony will be followed by a Gala Dinner presented by the St. Peter’s College Rugby Foundation on Sunday, October 15th.
All participating teams, match officials, and other tournament authorities, as well as sponsors and partners, will be invited.
