The one-off four day encounter between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Afghanistan ‘A’ commenced today (11th May) at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka got off to a solid start thanks to their opening pair Oshada Fernando and Lahiru Udara who put on an 84-run stand for the first wicket. However, Sri Lanka faced a minor collapse, losing 4 wickets for 22 runs in next 6 overs.

The middle order batters Sonal Dinusha and Ahan Wickramasinghe then resurrected the innings, adding a 65-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Dinusha then built another crucial stand with the wicket-keeper batter Vishad Randika to strengthen Sri Lanka’s grip on the game.

The duo added 115 runs for the 6th wicket before Randika was bowled by Naveen Zadran for 63 runs. Dinusha went on to score his 3rd century in first-class Cricket and remained unbeaten on 126 at the close of play on Day 1.
