Samarawickrama made a huge impact during his Test debut earlier this month against the same opposition in the 2nd Test in Dubai scoring 38 and 13 respectively at the number 3 position.
With a wide array of strokes in his repertoire, Samarawickrama can score at a blitzkrieg pace in the shorter-formats of the game at the top of the order. He was initially named in the Sri Lanka ‘A’ squad for the West Indies tour but was unable to travel to Jamaica until now due to delays in obtaining his visa, Sri Lanka Cricket sources revealed to ThePapare.com.

Former Josephian, Samarawickrama was named the ‘Best Batsman’ in SLC Super Provincial Limited Over Tournament 2017 where he amassed 343 runs in 7 matches for Galle with an average of 49 including 2 centuries. In 22 List A matches, Samarawickrama averages 27.52 and has a healthy strike rate of 88.19.
