Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to allow players who played in lower tier tournaments to represent teams in the higher tier tournament.
Sri Lanka Cricket publicized today (28th) that any player who has participated in lower tier (National) tournaments during the on-going season will be permitted to play in any higher tier tournament/ league during the same season.
SLC came to this decision considering the fact that talented youngsters were forced to miss the premier tournament due to employment obligations, which have thus far resulted in their ineligibility to play in higher tier tournaments.
It was the decision of the Executive Committee based on the fact that such a waste of talent would hinder the progress of the quality of Cricket in the country.
The eligibility will however be subject to the players meeting all other requirements as per the Tournament rules.
The SLC premier league tournament that was scheduled to begin last week was postponed and will be beginning this week.
