Four games of the SLC Premier Tournament’s Super Eight round came to a close yesterday, 17th August 2020. Three more games of the Plate championship tournament are ongoing.

Late heroics from Kasun Vidura gave enough fuel for Chilaw Marians CC to record their second win in the tourney. Vidura scored an unbeaten 73 runs coming in at No. 8 to give enough runs for Chilaw Marians CC in their second outing. Despite a valiant effort from the SL Army SC opener Ashan Randika, the soldiers fell 45 runs short. Randika scored a quick-fire 133 in 84 deliveries with 10 sixes and 9 fours.
The bowlers sealed a 103-run victory for Ragama CC against a quality Colts CC batting line-up. Following the six-wicket haul from Shashika Dulshan in the first innings, youngster Kalhara Senaratne, Ishan Jayaratne and skipper Amila Aponso took the baton from him as they picked up 3 wickets each in the second innings.
Dhananjaya picks 7 wickets; Shanaka smacks hundred
Duvindu Thilakaratne of BRC was the star with the ball in hand in this weeks’ Super Eight games as the left-arm spinner wrapped up a match-bag of 13 wickets against a high-riding NCC outfit. BRC skipper, Bhanuka Rajapaksa too is in red-hot form as the left-hander brought up twin hundreds in the game. Lahiru Udara of NCC kept his excellent run in the season going with yet another fighting 93 to save the game for NCC.
Despite CCC ending their fixture against Saracens SC with a first-innings deficit, they still hold ground at the top of the points table. Lasith Abeyratne scored a match-saving century for CCC while the opponent’s skipper Milinda Siriwardena smashed a headline-making 151 runs.
