Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) Coach Education Unit successfully completed a Level 2 Coaching Course from the 16th-21st of October, 2018 with 20 participants, who represent various levels of cricket in Sri Lanka.
The six-day program conducted at the High Performance Center of SLC at the R. Premadasa Stadium, saw school coaches, club coaches, former and present national cricketers such as Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara, and Dhammika Prasad also being involved to add a great experience to the participants.

Sri Lanka women’s team player Prasadini Weerakkody was also a part of the program conducted by Heshan De Mel (Head of education – SLC), Chamila Gamage (Coach Educator/ Fast Bowling Coach) and Tharaka Samaratunga (Coach Educator), while the likes of Avishka Gunawardena, Piyal Wijetunge, Upul Chandana, Ravindra Pushpakumara, Lanka De Silva and Sumithra Waranakulasuriya covered areas such as batting, spin bowling, fast bowling, fielding and wicket keeping.

“This is a special course, and the main objective of this is to enhance the coaching knowledge of the modern game of all attendees’, who will then be able to help Sri Lanka cricket by identifying talent and producing future national players;” said Mr. Asanka Gurusinha, Chief Cricket Operations Officer of the SLC, who is heading the High Performance Center.

Adding more value to the program, trainers Dharashana Weerasinghe, Dilshan Fonseka and Physiotherapist Ranjith Nanayakkara also conducted useful workshops for the participants to expand their knowledge beyond cricket.
