Sri Lanka Cricket provided Bowling Machines to 16 Schools, which performed well in the Under 19 Schools Cricket Division 1 Tournament during the 2018/19 season.
These machines were handed over to the respective schools by SLC President, Mr. Shammi Silva at a ceremony held at SLC headquarters with the participation of the captains, masters-in-charge and the Principal of each school.

Accordingly, St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, S. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia, St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, Nalanda College, Colombo, Prince of Wales, Moratuwa, Trinity College, Kandy, Thurstan College, Colombo, Mahinda College, Galle, Richmond College, Galle, Maris Stella College, Negombo, St. Servatius’ College, Matara, St. Peter’s College, Colombo, Zahira College, Colombo, Mahanama College, Colombo, St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena and Ananda College of Colombo were given bowling machines, each valued at Rs. 650,000.
“This is only a start and we are planning to provide these machines to all the 36 schools, which play Division 1 cricket in due course. We are also looking to allocate more funds to support school cricket going forward, as we believe, it is important for us to develop the game at the school level in order to unearth hidden talents,’’ said Mr. Shammi Silva, President Sri Lanka Cricket, speaking during the occasion.
