Here’s the round up of the matches which took place today in the Plate Championship of the SLC Tier A Premier League Cricket Tournament.

Negombo CC v Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC

Negombo CC were 274 for 8 at stumps on day one in their match against SL Ports Authority at Moors grounds today. Negombo won the toss and elected to bat first; They soon found themselves in big trouble at 44 for 3 but Prasanna Jayamanne and Dilasri Lokubandara teamed up well to consolidate them. The rest of the middle order batsmen also chipped in with valuable knocks. However, the decisive partnership came for the 6th wicket between Jayamanne and Sahan Arachchige. The pair added 120 runs with both scoring half centuries. Jayamanne, remained unbeaten at stumps on 73.

Badureliya CC v Moors SC

On-fire skipper Alankara Asanka scored another ton as Badureliya dominated day one in their match against Moors SC in Colombo. Moors won the toss and elected to field first; Opening pair for the visitors managed to put up 60 before the fall of the first wicket. However, the wickets came fast and loose for Badureliya as they went down to 5 wickets for 134 runs, with their skipper unbeaten in the middle. He was joined by Kosala Kulasekara and the pair managed to put an unbeaten stand of 191 runs for the 6th wicket. Skipper Asanka reached triple figures while Kosala was unbeaten on 94.

BRC v Ragama CC

League toppers BRC were bundled out for 291 runs after they were put to bat first by Ragama CC at Bloomfield grounds today. In-from top order hitters of BRC were wiped out by some wonderful seam bowling by Janith Liyanage and Mohommed Ali. BRC were struggling at 6 for 128, when Thilakarathne Sampath and Hashane Ramanayake took their turn at the crease. The duo resurrected the innings with a 123-run partnership for the 7th wicket. Sampath top scored with 105 off 116 deliveries with 3 six’s and 16 fours. Ultimately, Ragama CC managed to get through the tale but not before BRC posted 291 runs.

In reply, Ragama lost 3 wickets in quick succession which had them at 60 for 3 at stumps.
