SLC Premier Cricket 2nd day round up

SSC completed a rousing eight wicket outright victory over Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC with more than a day to spare in their Sri Lanka Cricket inter club Premier League cricket tournament match which concluded at Maitland Place today.

 

SSC v Ports

Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC who were trailing by 56 runs on the first innings once again failed to make an impact with the bat as they were skittled out for just 144 runs in their second attempt from 46.4 overs. 

Dynamic spinner Sachithra Senanayake continued with his excellent work with the ball producing another magnificent spell to claim a five wicket haul and to finish with a match-bag of ten wickets. 

SSC were left with an easy victory target of 89 runs and they romped home in just 21.2 overs with wicket keeper batsman Vishwa Wijeratne and Dasun Shanaka leading the run chase. 

Army v Barureliya

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Army Sports Club were well on course towards recording an outright victory after they hammered a massive 494 runs in their first innings in the match against Badureliya CC which continued at Maggona today. 

Skipper Asela Gunaratne led the way in style while compiling a career best 200 not out from 170 deliveries inclusive of five sixes and 22 boundaries which enabled Army SC to build up a first innings lead of 315 runs. 

Badureliya CC in their second attempt reached a shaky 92 for three wickets and they still need a further 223 runs to avert an innings defeat. 

Chilaw Marians v Panadura

Chilaw Marians CC staged a remarkable fight back to put themselves in contention for an outright victory after the second day of their Premier League cricket encounter against Panadura CC which continued at the Panadura Esplanade today. 

Chilaw Marians CC after conceding first innings points struck back with a vengeance to bundle out their opponents for a paltry 98 runs with Upul Indrasiri producing a repeat performance to claim a matchbag of ten wickets.  

However Panadura SC defending a modest target of 175 runs did well to strike early as they reduced Chilaw Marians CC to 11 runs for two wickets in the second innings. 

Bloomfield v Tamil Union 

The Premier League match between Bloomfield and Tamil Union looks set for an exciting finish after the latter collapsed to 177 for six wickets in their second innings on the second day at Reid Avenue today. 

Bloomfield skipper Suraj Randiv was in tremendous form while producing an excellent all round performance where he first struck an unbeaten 72 to give his team a close first innings lead and then followed up with a four wicket haul to consolidate their position. 

Colts v NCC

Colts CC put up a tremendous batting performance to snatch a first innings lead over NCC on the second day of their Premier League cricket match which continued at Maitland Place today. 

Chasing NCC’s first innings total of 332 runs the Colts CC top order batting rose to the occasion as they went on to pile up a formidable 352 for 8 wickets in reply with Kusal Janith Perera leading the way.               

The dashing wicket keeper batsman hammered a sparkling 117 runs from just 113 deliveries while hoisting four sixes and stroking ten boundaries.

He also put on a splendid 135 runs for the third wicket along with Milinda Siriwardena who struck a fluent 77 from 124 deliveries with the aid of three sixes and five boundaries. 

Moors v CCC

Moors Sports Club kept their hopes alive of recording a first innings victory by reaching a healthy 264 for 6 wickets in their first innings on the second day of their Premier League match against the CCC which continued at Maitland Crescent today.

Stylish opening batsman Shehan Jayasuriya led from the front while stroking a superb 108 from 178 deliveries with the help of fourteen boundaries.
